Bunaken & Lembeh — Coral Walls, Turtles & Macro Worlds

From Bunaken’s Coral Walls to the Macro World of Lembeh Strait.

Duration 7 Days
Start From $ 5,500

Journey Overview

Dive into North Sulawesi on a 7-day journey combining the spectacular coral walls of Bunaken with the world-renowned macro and muck diving of Lembeh Strait. Designed for certified divers and underwater photographers, this expedition offers vibrant reefs, turtles, dramatic drop-offs, rare critters, and some of Indonesia’s most rewarding underwater encounters.

Explore two of North Sulawesi’s most distinctive underwater environments on a dedicated diving journey combining Bunaken National Park and the Lembeh Strait.

The journey begins around Bunaken, where dramatic reef walls, clear tropical waters, coral formations and frequent turtle encounters create classic wide-angle diving opportunities. Bunaken and nearby Siladen offer numerous accessible dive sites suitable for a range of certified recreational divers.

Continue across North Sulawesi to Lembeh Strait, internationally renowned for muck and macro diving. Its volcanic black-sand seabed supports an extraordinary variety of small and unusual marine creatures, making Lembeh particularly attractive to macro photographers searching for frogfish, nudibranchs, seahorses, octopus and other cryptic species.

Day 5

Today is dedicated entirely to one of the world's best-known destinations for macro and muck diving.

Complete up to three guided dives at selected Lembeh sites. Rather than large coral landscapes, many classic Lembeh dives concentrate on volcanic sand and rubble habitats where experienced guides search carefully for small and unusual marine creatures.

Possible encounters may include frogfish, nudibranchs, pipefish, seahorses, octopus and other specialised macro subjects, although wildlife encounters can never be guaranteed.

For photographers, dives can be paced specifically for macro photography.

Day 6

Spend a second full day exploring Lembeh Strait.

Another three dives allow more time to search for different macro species and photograph subjects without rushing between locations.

Dive sites will be selected by the dive team according to recent marine-life sightings, weather, currents, diver certification and photographic interests.

An optional night dive may also be arranged for divers wishing to experience Lembeh after dark.

After the final dive, return to the resort for dinner and begin the required pre-flight surface interval.

Day 7

There is no diving scheduled today.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning before checking out and transferring by private vehicle to Sam Ratulangi International Airport for your onward flight.

For repetitive or multi-day recreational diving, DAN recommends a minimum 18-hour pre-flight surface interval; allowing a longer interval provides additional conservatism. Divers Alert Network
