For guests with a full day in port, the journey continues north into the Toraja Highlands, one of Indonesia’s most remarkable cultural regions. The scenic drive passes through changing landscapes, from coastal lowlands and agricultural areas to the dramatic mountains of Toraja.
The first cultural visit is Lemo, renowned for its ancient cliff graves, rock-cut burial chambers, and ancestral effigies. The site offers an introduction to Toraja beliefs surrounding family, death, ancestry, and the continuing relationship between the living and those who came before them.
Following lunch at a local restaurant, the excursion continues to Kete Kesu, a traditional Toraja village distinguished by its tongkonan ancestral houses, rice barns, woodcarving traditions, and ceremonial landscape. The village provides a deeper understanding of Toraja architecture, community identity, and cultural continuity.
