Day 2

After breakfast, drive south through the Baliem Valley toward Sogokmo, the starting point for today's trekking experience.

Along the way, observe everyday highland life and enjoy views of steep mountain slopes and the river valley. Continue toward the Kurima area, stopping at a scenic location for a picnic lunch.

The trekking experience is approximately 3–4 hours, depending on trail and weather conditions, with plenty of time for photography and interaction with communities encountered along the route. Day 3

After breakfast, travel north through the Baliem Valley toward Jiwika, one of the area's important Dani cultural regions.

Visit a traditional settlement and learn about the distinctive architecture of the honai, the circular thatched houses characteristic of the highlands. Continue to a community where an ancestral mummy has been preserved and hear about the history, leadership structures, beliefs, and traditions associated with the community.

The day is dedicated to a deeper cultural encounter with the Dani people. Depending on local arrangements, experience traditional dances, demonstrations of ancestral skills and the preparation of food using the traditional bakar batu, or hot-stone cooking method.

There will also be opportunities to learn about traditional clothing, agriculture, handicrafts and the relationship between highland communities and their environment. Jiwika-area cultural programs commonly combine ancestral sites with traditional dances and stone-cooking traditions.

Return to Wamena in the afternoon.

Cultural performances and ceremonies should be arranged in advance with the local community and remain subject to community availability.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing toward the Napua Hills, where elevated viewpoints provide a beautiful panorama across the broad valley and surrounding mountains.

Later, stop for a relaxed Papuan coffee break, enjoying locally grown coffee while taking in the highland atmosphere.

If time allows, visit the Wesaput/Sinakma area to see the traditional suspension bridge and everyday life along the Baliem River before returning to your hotel. Local Wamena programs commonly combine the market, Napua viewpoint and suspension-bridge areas as a gentle introduction to the valley.
