Continue toward the slopes of Mount Sesean and the panoramic highland area of Batutumonga. Here, spectacular rice terraces unfold across the mountainsides, surrounded by deep valleys, traditional settlements, and distant peaks. Enjoy an easy nature walk through picturesque rice fields and rural villages. Along the way, observe local farming activities, traditional houses, and the close relationship between the Torajan people and their land. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant overlooking the surrounding countryside.

In the afternoon, visit Loko Mata, an extraordinary ancient burial site where chambers have been carved into massive natural boulders. Return to your hotel for dinner and your final overnight stay in Toraja.

Optional Cultural Experience

Toraja funeral ceremonies are among Indonesia’s most remarkable living cultural traditions and may become a meaningful highlight of your journey. Should a ceremony take place during your stay, your guide will be pleased to arrange an opportunity for you to observe the ritual respectfully, subject to the permission and schedule of the host family. Visitors traditionally present a modest ceremonial gift, generally consisting of coffee, sugar, and cigarettes. The cost of this gift is not included in the tour price.

Depending on local schedules, a visit to Pasar Bolu, Toraja’s traditional livestock and produce market, may also be arranged.

Please note that funeral ceremonies are private community events. Their dates and locations are determined entirely by local families and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
